The Center for Cosmology and Computational Astrophysics (C3A) has a high-performance heterogeneous computing platform (SilkRiver) dedicated to in-depth and detailed research on the large-scale structure of the universe and the evolution of galaxy formation.

With more than 7,000 Intel 4th Gen Xeon Max compute cores (466Tflops) and 72 GPU-accelerated cards (1,645Tflops), SilkRiver delivers more than 2.1Pflops (2 quadrillion floating-point) of double-precision floating-point computing power. In addition, the SilkRiver platform is equipped with at least 2TB of DDR5 memory for each node, with a total of 138TB of platform memory and a distributed high-speed storage scale of about 16PB.

The platform focuses on the massive observation data output of many ground and space telescopes in China's astronomy in the next 5-8 years and a series of international cutting-edge N-body and fluid numerical simulations, and the powerful computing power provides a reliable guarantee for massive data processing and numerical simulation tasks. The SilkRiver platform will help C3A of Zhejiang University to move to the forefront of astrophysics research, and promote the vigorous development of China's astronomical research in the direction of massive observation data processing and numerical simulation.
